Allen Karpinski wrote/arranged/recorded/performed music with his band, Six Parts Seven, beginning in 1995, with the group’s first album, released in a small run of 50- copies by Donut Friends Records. Six Parts Seven went on to record 6 more full-length albums, ending a 12-year run, in 2006, after Allen’s brother, Jay, the other founding musician, left to pursue a career as a professional cyclist.
After moving from Cleveland, Ohio, to Seattle, Washington, in 2008, Allen continued his sound experiments, recording with an Olympia-based group called These Creatures, and releasing a solo album on VDSQ Records participating in that label’s Solo Acoustic Series (along with Thurston Moore, Bill Orcutt and Sir Richard Bishop). This tour finds Allen performing electric guitar duos alongside Tucker Theodore; the two guitarists have been collaborating for close to 10-years now, and are currently recording an album of live guitar duets.
Expect interpretations Six Parts Seven material, new instrumentals and maybe a select cover. Expect beauty, contrast in all dynamic forms, for time to be stretchered, atmosphere collapsed; a new conversation in a still, relatively, new language. No instrument is ‘dead’ – certainly not the guitar…
